  • Lotto supports infant and child mental health
    Ububele Media Release – 17 November 2014
The National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF) has donated a total of
R1,7 million to Ububele Educational and Psychotherapy Trust towards crucial child and infant mental health support and training programmes.

Ububele is an organisation working mostly in Alexandra to provide children and parents with psychological support. Ububele also conducts research to guide its programmes.
The Lotto grants support a range of training courses for community-based mental health workers. They also fund Ububele’s Therapy and Assessment Clinic which provides psychological and assessment services to children and their families, and have provided for 2 vehicles and equipment to assist Ububele’s community work.

Executive Director of Ububele, Tony Hamburger, says the Lotto has made a huge difference to Ububele’s programmes in Alexandra. “Ububele and the clients we serve are extremely grateful for Lotto’s support for our training and outreach programmes. We live in times when people are very stressed and in need of advice and support, and Ububele is one of very few organisations offering these services to impoverished community members who otherwise would not have access to them.”
