    Ububele on the world stage: Ububele impressed delegates at the recent World Association for Infant Mental Health (WAIMH) congress held in Edinburgh, Scotland. View invite
    Two senior psychologists at Ububele, Katharine Frost and Melanie Esterhuizen, together with Wits University researchers Dr Katherine Bain and Dr Cynthia Hsiao, presented their findings on the Ububele Mother-Baby Home Visiting Project in Alexandra, at a parallel session on 18 June.
    The team presented the following in the parallel session entitled‘Increasing maternal sensitivity: the development and evaluation of the Ububele Mother-Baby Home Visiting Project.’

    • Successes and challenges: Impacts of the Ububele Mother-Baby Home Visiting Project on mother-infant relationships

    . • The development and implementation of the Ububele Mother-Baby Home Visiting Project.

    • Recruitment, training and supervision of Home Visitors within the Ububele Mother-Baby Home Visiting Project

    . • Utility of the Maternal Behaviour Q-Sort in a South African context

    . According to David Hadley, a delegate and Ububele associate: “The presentation by the Ububele team was magnificent. They got the balance of conveying rigorous presentation of data and the emotional reality of working in Alex absolutely right, with an excellent narrative of how the process between the two was managed. It was very powerful and a number of people came up afterwards and said that it should have on the main stage.” The 14th WAIMH world congress’s theme was “Babies, their contribution – our responsibilities”. Over 1 500 delegates from all over the world were hosted from 14-18 June 2014.
